Architecture Modelling

WEEK 2 - Modelling:

A city is not only an urban area with a high degree of population that habit in a human constructed infrastructure. More than that is the connection between buildings, people and nature. It is the connection between shapes and form. This was revealed to me as I took closer look around the city focusing on the relation between space and time of the city.

During my visit to city (Hyde Park area) I observed that the city is a space in which shapes and forms created by humans meet and combine with shapes and forms created by nature through the people around it. This was quite intriguing and interesting aspect to watch, how people behave like a medium through which these two subspaces interact with each other. Citizens walking around the park resting, heading to work, or simply just going home at any time of the day interact with them in a same way, by admiring the peacefulness that nature offers within itself as well as admiring man’s greatest accomplishments. However nature and the city’s infrastructure are not connected nor join through people’s admiration towards them but through people’s acceptance of their simultaneous existence in which neither nature nor man’s creation are unknown to each other but closely relatives that sometimes are thought as one. It is through this acceptance that natural and colorful shapes and forms produce by nature coexist as one with the abrupt, intimidating, dull and colossal man-made shapes and forms. Further more it is because of this that nature and the city’s infrastructure behave as one and one can not really determine giving a space within these two, which subspaces is the start point and which is the end. Giving the illusion that the forms and shapes produce by both are just continues flaws all throughout the city. This resembles the concept “FOLD” by Gilles DELUZE in which it is brought to us that forms and shapes are just folds which itself creates new folds giving rise to new shapes and forms in which there is no begging nor an end.

Conclusively, I can say that visiting the city with a focus in mind has giving me a new perspective of how nature, people and buildings interact with each other to create a connection in which these 3 aspects act like one.

WEEK 3 - Modelling:

WEEK 4 - Modelling:

In this week we have to make a collage representing the word FREEDOM as well as combining it with one of the previous concept learnt before. This representation had also had to be extruded in to a A3 size model.
